PS 1087

PS 1087 - Dry acid salt for hydrofluoric acid replacement
Applications:

• PS 1087 is a dy acid salt which is used in conjunction with a strong acid, to replace hydrofluoric acid baths.
• PS 1087 solutions are compatible with virtually all basis metals.
• Use of PS 1087 in plating cycles results in more active metal surfaces, better adhesion of electroplated deposits, and the removal of silicate films. The especially hazardous nature of hydrofluoric acid is eliminated, as are the handling and storage problems associated with this acid.
• PS 1087 is ideal for pickling and scale removal from various types of stainless steel or titanium, bright (frosty) etching of silicon-aluminium castings; and for pickling magnesium prior to chromating. A considerable increase in solution life over hydrofluoric acid baths is obtained. As with any activation, pickling or etching process, PS 1087 requires surfaces that are free from oils and foreign matter. Thorough cleaning of all metals, as well as thorough rinsing before and after PS 1087, is required.
